The Titanic : A Revisit in History

Sunk over 100 years ago and rediscovered in 1985, the Titanic still has secrets to reveal. Everyone finds something in the disaster that holds a countless number of secrets. There could have been numerous portions of the Titanic that may have collapsed.

Now, a new expedition is heading to the wreck site with world-leading experts accompanied by state-of-the-art technology. It is a race against time to find answers to century-old questions and preserve the Titanic for future generations. The mission is head to 370 miles south-east of Newfoundland, Canada.

The images of the exposed ocean floor form a key piece of evidence visible for the first time. It shows the overall scale of the debris field. If a 1000 foot longship would have crashed on the surface, the scatter area would have been much greater than what is observed in the survey. This leads to the conclusion that even though, some parts have collapsed, the ship is approximately intact. Considering that it fell a few miles through the water column, the scatter area observed is rather small. This proves that the ship separated much deeper in the water than what scientists once thought.

Now the question that arises is whether the ship originally broke in half or did it break deeper in the water.
